A local Awami League leader has inaugurated illegal sand extraction of Jamuna river at Milad in Pabna. The issue has created a lot of buzz and excitement in the area.
Rezaul Karim Bakul, joint secretary of Rooppur union Awami League in Bera upazila, organized the milad mahfil on a dredger machine on the banks of Jamuna river on Saturday afternoon.
According to local villagers, Rezaul Karim Bakul, joint-secretary of Bera Upazila Rooppur Union Awami League and a resident of Khanpura village, recently bought a 'Bolgate' dredger machine for around half a crore rupees. Sand extraction was started with this ballgate machine through Milad on Saturday afternoon.
In this regard, Ruppur UP Chairman and General Secretary of Union Awami League Abul Hashem Ujjwal said, Rezaul Karim Bakul does not have any post in Union Awami League at present. However, he introduced himself as an Awami League leader. He has been doing all these illegal business using the name of Awami League for a long time. As a result, I am often embarrassed.
Rezaul Karim Bakul, joint secretary of Rooppur Union Awami League in Bera Upazila and a resident of Khanpura village, was contacted on his mobile phone several times. An unnamed woman, who did not want to be named, said Bakul had a fever. Can't talk while sleeping now.
