The district BNP has expelled four leaders for campaigning for the Awami League candidate in Bagerhat in defiance of the party's decision.
Bagerhat district BNP convener ATM Akram Hossain Talim and member secretary Sheikh Mozaffar Rahman Alam signed a press release on Sunday morning.
The expelled are: Sharankhola Upazila BNP Organizing Secretary Golam Rasul Yusuf, Mongla Municipal BNP Senior Vice President. Khallur Rahman, Mongla Municipal BNP Organizing Secretary Mahabubur Rahman Manik, Mongla Municipal BNP 5th Ward General Secretary A. Salam dealer.
According to the press release, Golam Rasul Yusuf, the organizing secretary of Sharankhola Upazila BNP, has been expelled from the party for allegedly speaking against the BNP nominee in the by-election of Sharankhola Upazila Parishad on October 20.
On the other hand, in the Mongla Port Municipality election held on January 16, the senior vice-president of Mongla Municipal BNP Md. Khallaur Rahman was accused of holding a meeting with the Awami League candidate at his residence and presiding over it and asking for votes in his favor.
