Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that the main goal and objective of the government is to repatriate the Rohingyas who came to Bangladesh from Myanmar.

He was speaking to reporters after the first meeting of the National Security Committee on Coordination, Management and Law Enforcement of Displaced Myanmar Citizens at the Secretariat on Wednesday.

The minister said the main goal and objective of the government is the repatriation of Rohingyas from Myanmar to their home countries. Therefore, strong diplomatic activities are going on. How repatriation will be done; That has been discussed in detail in the inter-ministerial meeting.

He said all possible steps have been taken to strengthen intelligence surveillance and security in the Rohingya camp area. The government will be in a strict position to control all kinds of crimes including drugs. The police will play a key role in internal security. However, there will be army patrols outside the camp.

Foreign Minister Dr. in a meeting held in the meeting room of the Ministry under the chairmanship of the Home Minister from 11 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Apart from AK Abdul Momen, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Fazilatunnesa Indira, representatives of the Army, Police and other law enforcement agencies, representatives of various ministries and top officials of the intelligence agencies were also present.

The Home Minister said that due to the internal riots in Myanmar in 1978 and 1979, 1991 and 1992 and since August 25, 2017, about 1.1 million displaced Rohingyas have been living in 35 centers in Teknaf Ukhia Upazila in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. The Bangladesh government has already planned to relocate one lakh Rohingyas to Bhasanchar.

He said the government has so far relocated about 3,000 Rohingya from 406 families in two phases. A fire service unit and a police station are under construction in Bhasanchar. The Home Minister requested all the people not to go to Bhasanchar.

The minister said two units of the army and APBN were working to control the security and law and order situation in the Rohingya camps. At the same time police, BGB, Ansar and RAB are working. A 142-kilometer barbed wire fence is being erected around the Rohingya camp under the supervision of the army under the Ministry of Home Affairs. Of these, 111 km of fencing has been completed.

He said the construction of the fence will be completed by June this year. Walkways will be constructed outside the barbed wire fence and CCTV cameras will be installed. This will make it possible to control the free movement of Rohingyas. They can also be given security.

The minister said drug control is a big challenge. Rohingya citizens are bringing yaba to their permanent address. There is also killing going on with the sharecroppers. That is why the security of the Rohingya camp has been strengthened. Police and army patrols will be increased at night.

The Home Minister said 180 local and foreign NGOs including UN agencies and international organizations are working in the Rohingya camps in Cox's Bazar. In Bhasanchar too, 22 NGOs have already started work. The meeting decided that some banned NGOs and unregistered NGOs would not be able to work in the camps.

He added that the Rohingya camps in Cox's Bazar have 134 health care centers and 5495 education centers. So that Rohingyas are being taught their own Myanmar language and English. The arrival of Rohingyas destroyed the forest in the camp area. Therefore, arrangements are being made to plant trees and grass there.
