BIWTC authorities have temporarily suspended ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route in Shibalaya upazila of Manikganj due to dense fog. There are 4 ferries anchored in the middle river with passengers and vehicles.
Mohiuddin Russell, assistant manager of trade at BIWTC Paturia Ghat Point, said the ferry service was suspended due to heavy fog in the Padma River around 11:15 pm on Sunday.
He said the light of the ferry marking lamp has become dim as the fog density in the river has increased. As a result, the ferry service has been stopped to avoid accidents. Besides, there are 4 ferries anchored in the middle river with passengers and vehicles as they could not determine the direction. He also said that if the fog density is reduced, the ferry service will be normal again.
