Abul Kalam Azad, Sub-Inspector of Ghoraghat Police Station, Dinajpur, retired from his long career of 28 years in a car decorated with flowers and loved by his colleagues.
Ghoraghat Police Station OC Azim Uddin and other members of the police bade him farewell on Tuesday morning.
Before leaving, SI Abul Kalam Azad was garlanded by OC Azim Uddin and OC (Investigation) Mominul Islam. Later, other officers of the police station handed over bouquets of flowers and gift items. At the last moment, OC Azim Uddin took him to the bus stand area in a police vehicle decorated with flowers. He then took a micro to his home in Faridpur.
Abul Kalam Azad, the outgoing sub-inspector, said at the time of his departure that every policeman was greeted with flowers before joining the service. But there is no formality in retirement. However, according to my wish, the SP of Dinajpur and the OC of Ghoraghat police station have fulfilled the last wish. I want every member of the police to be dismissed in this way.
Other members of Ghoraghat police including SI Ziaur Rahman, Dulu Mia, Farukuzzaman, Fazlar Rashid, ASI Zaman, Manjurul, Bholanath, Malek and Asma Khatun were present at the time.
