The Election Commission has said that the election for the Sadar municipality of Natore district to be held on February 14 has been postponed by the order of the High Court.

A letter signed by Atiyar Rahman, deputy secretary of the Bangladesh Election Commission, said on Sunday that the election had been postponed as per the order of the High Court Division, with the aim of resolving legal complications and the disposal of two petitions for consideration by the Local Government Department.

It may be mentioned that February 14 was the scheduled day for the Natore Sadar Municipality elections. The city of Natore has already become vocal in its campaign for councilors and mayoral candidates. The High Court has given this instruction in the context of the writ petition due to the complexity of the border.
