In the third phase, the election in Gaurnadi and Mehendiganj municipalities of Barisal will be held on Saturday. Two candidates of Awami League and BNP are contesting for the post of mayor in Gournadi municipality.
On the other hand, Awami League, BNP and Islami Andolan are fighting for three mayoral posts in Mehendiganj municipality. The total area of Gournadi municipality is 11 and a half square kilometers. The total population of this municipality consisting of 9 wards is more than half a lakh.
The total number of voters is 33,408. Of these, 16,609 are female voters and 16,799 are male voters. There are 96 polling booths in 14 centers in the municipality. Awami League's Harishur Rahman Harish and BNP's Zaheer Sajjad Hannan are contesting for the post of mayor.
Of these, 13,173 are male voters and 12,715 are female voters. They will vote in 75 rooms of 9 centers.
