Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, senior joint secretary general of the BNP, said that in the current situation, the electoral system in Bangladesh has become a dead end. The Election Commission has now removed the situation from Bangladesh where the people will elect their representatives by fair vote and people will vote.
The BNP leader said this at a press conference held at the Syed Shamsul Haque Auditorium of Kurigram Press Club on Saturday.
He said the voting schedule was announced by the Election Commission headed by Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda. Some Election Commission officials are trained to take day votes at night. The election is right, the schedule is right. But who will win is decided in advance.
Rizvi said that in most of the municipalities in the second round of municipal elections held on Saturday, the ruling party and the administration have jointly created a volatile situation by harassing BNP leaders and activists and filing false cases. Agents on the side of paddy sheaf are being evicted from the polling station.
District BNP vice-president Mostafizur Rahman, Professor Shafiqul Islam Bebu and senior joint general secretary Sohail Hossain Kaikobad were present at the press conference.
