The University of Lehigh in the United States has revoked Donald Trump's honorary degree in the wake of unprecedented violence on Capitol Hill. The honorary degree, which was awarded to Trump in 1988 from Lehigh University, was revoked on Friday.

A joint session of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives met last Wednesday at the Capitol building. There was a formal count of the electoral vote to ensure Joe Biden's victory. At the time, Donald Trump's supporters stormed the US Congress, killing at least five people. Trump supporters also carried out extensive vandalism and looting of the Capitol building.

Governments and heads of state of different countries have expressed shock and condemnation over this disgusting incident. The honorary degree awarded to Trump was discussed at a special session of the executive committee of the board of trustees of Lehigh University on Thursday. There, members voted to revoke Donald Trump's honorary degree in 1988.
