Education Minister Dipu Moni has said that some of the money deposited by HSC and equivalent candidates while filling up the forms will be refunded as the exams were not held this time.
She said this while announcing the results of HSC and equivalent results on Saturday.
She said that as there was no HSC and equivalent examination this time, it was decided to return the unspent portion of the money collected by the candidates for filling up the forms.
13 lakh 65 thousand 789 students of 11 education boards were supposed to give HSC and equivalent examinations this time. The test was supposed to start from April 1. But when the outbreak of coronavirus began to increase, it was no longer possible to take the test as all educational institutions in the country were closed from March 17. That is why the results of JSC and SSC have been averaged and the results of HSC for 2020 have been determined. The law also had to be amended to publish results without examination.
After the amendment of the law for publishing results without taking exams, the results of HSC and equivalent examinations of 11 education boards were published simultaneously on Saturday.
In the morning, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina joined the International Mother Tongue Institute in Dhaka online from Ganobhaban and released the results of the test. On behalf of the Prime Minister, Education Minister Dipu Moni received a summary of HSC results from the chairmen of the education boards.
This time 1 lakh 61 thousand 807 students got GPA-5 in the evaluation done on the basis of previous exams. Last year, the pass rate of HSC and equivalent was 73.93 percent and the number of students who got GPA-5 was 47,286.
