After a long 10 years, the Mongla Port municipality election has seen a festive atmosphere since Saturday morning, but as the day progressed, there were allegations of widespread irregularities, chaos, occupation of the center and attacks on activist supporters of rival candidates. Bringing these allegations, the BNP mayoral candidate at 10:30 pm. Zulfiqar Ali announced the boycott at a press conference at his residence. Apart from Zulfiqar, 12 BNP and Jamaat-backed councilor candidates also announced their boycott at the press conference.

At the press conference, mayoral candidate Zulfiqar Ali complained that Awami League supporters occupied every center as soon as the voting started. They prevent ordinary voters from casting their ballots. He also alleged that his agent had been evicted from each center.
