Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight again seized 22 gold bars from the inside of the life jacket of the Airport Customs Detective and Investigation Department.
The gold bars were seized during a search of flight BG-4040 from Riyadh on Friday on a tip-off.
Muhammad Mubinul Kabir, director general of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department, said the same amount of gold bars had been seized from another similar flight at the airport on Monday. No one involved in the incident has been identified yet.
However, two separate departmental cases have been filed to identify the active gold smuggling ring at the airport involved in the incident.
Airport Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department officials said the flight was searched after the passengers landed at around 2.15pm on Friday. At that time, 22 gold bars were found hidden inside a life jacket under a seat.
These gold bars are hidden inside life jackets for smuggling purposes. Which weighs 2 kg 552 grams.
According to airport intelligence sources, the gold smuggling ring was active at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at the beginning of the year. They alleged that a class of officers and employees were involved in the incident at the airport.
An assistant director of customs detectives said a departmental case had been filed for repeatedly seizing gold bars from the aircraft's life jacket. They are being investigated.
