State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak expressed hope that Bangladesh will prove its worth to the world as a digital device exporter within the next few years. In the last two years, Samsung has made about 1.5 million mobiles here.
From next year, the factory will make 2.5 million mobiles. From next year, no more Samsung mobiles will be imported to Bangladesh. In the next couple of years, Samsung's TVs, refrigerators, air conditioners and smartphones will not only be made in Bangladesh but will also be exported abroad.
In a short time, we will become a digital device exporter. He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken initiative to save foreign exchange and create employment by producing digital devices. As a result, employment of 1.5 million youths has been ensured in the ICT sector. The ICT sector has earned 1 billion by exporting software and hardware, which will increase to 2 million in 21 years.
He also announced that Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Center and Hi-Tech Park would be set up in Narsingdi to create skilled manpower. He also announced that the event was attended by Korean Ambassador HE Li Zhang Kian Senior Secretary NM Ziaul Alam and Deputy Commissioner of Narsingdi Syeda Farhana Kaunin. Mesbah Uddin, Director Operations Firoz Mohammad, Head of Marketing JM Taslim Kabir along with other senior government officials, officials and employees of Samsung and Fair Group were present on the occasion.
