Bangladesh Awami League Organizing Secretary Mirza Azam MP said, Bangladesh was born because Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was born on the soil of Bengal. Because of the father of the nation, we are able to identify ourselves as a Bengali nation, we are proud as Bangladeshis. But with the help of Ziaur Rahman on 15 August 1975, the anti-independence movement was established in the country to erase the identity of the Bengali nation by assassinating Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
He said this at a public meeting organized by Sarishabari Upazila Awami League on Saturday to mark Mujib's centenary.
Mirza Azam further said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the worthy daughter of the father of the nation, came to power to restore the identity of the Bengali nation and started the trial of the freedom fighters including the assassination of Bangabandhu. Already, several anti-independence convicts, including Bangabandhu's assassins, have been executed and the rest are in the process of being executed.
District Awami League President Advocate Baki Billah, General Secretary Faruk Ahmed Chowdhury, State Minister for Information Dr Murad Hasan MP, District Awami League Organizing Secretary Chanowar Hossain also spoke at the public meeting held at Sengua Bazar ground of Mahadan Union of Sarishabari Upazila.
