Australia are in a good place at the end of the first day of the fourth Test against India in Gabba with a great century by Marnus Labushan. Ajibahini lost 5 wickets and scored 274 runs against inexperienced Indian bowling at the end of the day on Friday. Captain Tim Payne (38) and Cameron Green (28) are at the crease.
Australia won the toss and elected to bat first in the series-deciding Test at Gabba. But the beginning was not good for Ajid. Australia lost two openers by just 17 runs. Inexperienced Indian bowling did not allow Sydney Test century Steve Smith to score big runs. However, India could have been in a better place at the end of the day if Labushan had not been given 'life' twice.
Labushan scored the fifth century of his career in Test cricket, taking advantage of Indian fielders' catches. India captain Ajinkya Rahane made an easy catch off Navdeep Saini. Labusha then batted for 37 runs. The right-handed Aussie batsman was given another chance before the half-century. India gave life to Labushan for the second time with a personal 48 runs. This time Cheteshwar Pujara dropped his catch in the first slip.
Then he did not look back at Labushan. He completed his century using the inexperience of Indian bowling. Labushan reached the century with the help of 9 boundaries from 195 balls. In the end, he returned to the pavilion with a catch in the hands of Rishabh Pant while trying to pull the ball of T Natarajan for 108 runs. But before that, he led the team to a better place by averaging two big partnerships.
After 70 with Smith in the third wicket, Labushan formed a 113-run partnership with Matthew Wade for the fourth wicket. Australia in a good place at the end of the first day with his bat. Matthew Wade scored 45 without Labushan. He is also a victim of Natarajan
