Poverty reduction and human development using information and communication technology '- this model of Bangladesh is now an example to the world. State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak said this at a press conference organized on the occasion of 12 years of Digital Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The press conference was attended by NM Ziaul Alam, Senior Secretary, Department of Information Technology, Hosne Ara Begum, Managing Director, Hi-Tech Park Authority and top officials of various departments under the Department of Information Technology.
Junaid Ahmed Palak said that in the vision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Minister's Adviser on Information Technology and her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy are the pioneers of digital transformation in Bangladesh.
Elaborating on the success of Digital Bangladesh, he said that in the last 12 years, more than 1.5 million jobs have been created in this sector, the number of Internet users has risen from 56 million to 12 million. A decade ago, there were less than 50 government websites, but now there are more than 51,000 government websites.
He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given four milestones. First, Vision 2021 Digital Bangladesh; Second, to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030; Thirdly, to build a developed Bangladesh in 2041 and fourthly, the delta plan. Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the 'Architect of Digital Bangladesh', has been making an outstanding contribution to the implementation of these plans.
