BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has termed the Chittagong City Corporation (CHC) election as a final stage joke and farce.

He told reporters after he lodged an election-related complaint with the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) on Wednesday that the election was held in the name of extreme violence. He gave a brief picture of the events of the first three hours of the Chasik election to the CEC.

Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that violence started in the morning in Chasik election. Voters have been barred from going to the polls. Within two to three hours of the start of polling, the agents with the paddy sheaf symbol were removed from the center. When the matter was reported to the police, they said they had nothing to do. Another fraudulent election was a joint production of law enforcement and the election office. Two people have been killed in electoral violence. Hundreds of leaders and activists were injured. All in all, the administration officials are working like party cadres of Awami League in different places. In fact, in the case of vote robbery, the administrative apparatus and the state apparatus have become one.

He added that as long as the present government is in power, the term fair elections will become unfamiliar to the people. This government hates the right of voters to vote. They are the opposition, the terrible enemy of dissent and criticism. During their time, fear and dread surrounded the people. For this reason, the people have been imprisoned in jails.

Ruhul Kabir Rizvi termed the Chief Election Commissioner as a killer of fair elections and democracy.

Dhaka South Metropolitan BNP president Habib-un Nabi Khan Sohel, central leader Sarafat Ali Sapu, Asadul Karim Shahin and others were present while talking to reporters.
