Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan said the government is working to expand railway services. Ambulance service will soon be added to the country's railways for transporting patients. Patients like air ambulances can easily go to the hospital by ambulance train.
He made the remarks at a joint meeting organized by Lalmonirhat Railway Department at Panchagarh Bir Muktijoddha Sirajul Islam Railway Station on Sunday afternoon.
The railway minister said 200 state-of-the-art luggage vans are being imported for transporting goods. This will enable traders to easily transport various commodities including agricultural products by rail from marginal areas. An agent will be appointed for this. Their job will be to get the products to the right destination.
The minister further said that the government is working to make road, sea, air and rail transport equally accessible to the people. People can travel by train very economically and safely. We have our own security forces. So people now feel more comfortable traveling by rail than by road.
