There have been allegations of irregularities in the sixth grade admission lottery at Bindubasini Government Boys High School in Tangail. A student's name appears more than once in the list of students who are eligible for admission through a centrally held lottery.
There are several such names in the results list. The parents of the deprived students have held a press conference on these allegations. The press conference was held at Tangail Press Club on Tuesday.
They also demanded that the lottery should be arranged in the district or school instead of the central admission lottery through online.
The lottery was held centrally on Monday for admission in sixth class at Bindubasini Government Boys High School, the press conference was informed. The winning list of that lottery result contains the names of multiple students several times.
The results list shows Nahyan Haque Swadhin five times, Abdullah Al Noman, Saidur Rahman Sohan, Atiqur Rahman Nabil, Samiul Islam and Mazharul Islam twice. The name of a student is supposed to come only once.
Many students have been deprived of having multiple names. The parents demanded to cancel the lottery results and re-run the lottery with transparency. They also said that if there is no proper solution in this regard, they will take refuge in the court.
Among the parents who spoke at the conference were Tamanna Islam, Saiful Islam, Zarina Begum and Ali Ashraf Hitlu.
MA Karim, headmaster of Tangail Bindubasini Government Boys' High School, said the lottery was held for the first time, so there was some inconsistency. Since the lottery has been held centrally from Dhaka. So there is no opportunity to correct. However, the students whose names we have more than once will be admitted from the waiting list.
