Chittagong City Corporation BNP mayoral candidate. Shahadat Hossain alleged that his agents had been evicted from most polling stations.
Shahadat cast his vote at the Bakalia Teachers Training College around 10am on Wednesday. He told reporters after the vote.
BNP mayoral candidate said. Shahadat said it was the responsibility of the Election Commission to provide security to the agents but the EC was not fulfilling that responsibility. The administration is cooperating with the Awami League. The competition is now with the administration, not with the Awami League.
He said there are all sorts of mechanisms to keep voters from coming. I am voting against the administration. The administration is working like party leaders and workers of Awami League in different places.
Voting for the Chittagong City Corporation election has started at 8 am on Wednesday. The total number of polling stations in the election is 735. Of these, 429 polling stations have been identified as risky by the police, which is 56 per cent of the total polling stations.
Who will be the mayor of Chittagong for the next five years will be decided today. Councilors of 41 general wards and 14 reserved wards will be finalized through voting.
The total number of voters in the election is 19 lakh 38 thousand 706 people. There are seven candidates for the post of mayor and 229 candidates for the post of councilor.
