A mobile court has sentenced Ripon Hessen to six months in prison for trying to rape a 12-year-old girl in Pabna's Santhia.
According to police sources, Ripon Hossain, 35, son of Hashem Ali of Khalishakhali village under Santhia upazila, went to her house on Sunday in the absence of her parents and tried to rape her. Ripon fled at the teenager's screams. When the guardian of the girl informed the matter to the upazila administration, the police immediately arrested Ripon. On Sunday afternoon, the mobile court's executive magistrate and Santhia upazila executive officer SM Jamal Ahmed sentenced the accused Ripon to six months in jail.
Santhia Police Station OC Asaduzzaman said Ripon was sent to Pabna Jail on Sunday afternoon.
