A writ petition has been filed in the High Court seeking life imprisonment and death penalty for the fake doctors. Supreme Court lawyer on Monday. JR Khan Robin filed the writ in the public interest.
In order to protect the health and safety of the people of the country, Rite amended sections 28 (3) and 29 (2) of the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council Act 2010 to increase the sentence of a fake doctor from three years and a fine of one lakh rupees to life imprisonment or death penalty. An order has also been sought to issue a rule asking why it will not be declared illegal. In the writ petition, the concerned persons including the law secretary, health and family welfare secretary, president and registrar of Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council have been made defendants.
Earlier, on October 29, a legal notice was sent to the defendants seeking directions to take action on the same. The writ petition was filed in the High Court on Monday without getting a reply to the notice.
