The district bus truck owner Sramik Oikya Parishad has called for a transport strike on all routes in Pabna from Wednesday morning demanding six points. The announcement was made by the leaders of North Bengal Bus Truck Owners Workers Unity Council at a press conference at Pabna Press Club on Sunday.
District Motor Owners Group President Bir Muktijoddha Habibur Rahman Habib read out a written statement at the press conference. He said bus owners and workers of Shahjadpur in Sirajganj have been beating coaches and bus drivers in Pabna for three or four years without any reason. Besides, they are obstructing the movement of buses and trucks over Shahjadpur and collecting tolls from the owners and workers of Pabna.
The owners and workers of Pabna did not get any result from the concerned authorities. "We want a lasting solution," he said. If the six-point demand is not met within 72 hours, all types of vehicles will go on strike on all routes in Pabna from Wednesday morning.
Besides, the fourth day of the Dhaka-bound bus coach strike from Pabna passed on Sunday. As a result of the strike, the suffering of the common people has reached its peak. The bus owners and workers of Pabna held meetings on Friday night and yesterday morning. However, the meeting ended without any decision. If necessary, warnings were also given for a larger program with motor workers in North and South Bengal.
Pabna District Motor Owners Group General Secretary Abul Ehsan Khan Rayon, Vice President Khokon Malitha, Truck Owners Group General Secretary Ruhul Amin Biswas Rana, Vice President Mozammel Haque Kabir, Convener of Bus-Minibus Owners Association Haji Sharif, Former President of Motor Workers Union Firoz Khan, Truck Workers President. Shahidullah, General Secretary Ishaq Ali and leaders and workers of all the transport related organizations of the district were present.
In this regard, Pabna Deputy Commissioner Kabir Mahmud said, Sirajganj and Pabna owners and workers will be discussed and measures will be taken to solve the problem.
