Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that Israel's policy on the Palestinian issue is unacceptable.
He said Israel's policy was an obstacle to the development of relations between Tel Aviv and Ankara.
Erdogan told reporters after Friday prayers in Istanbul on Friday. "Our policy on Palestine is our red line," he said. It is impossible for us to accept the policy that Israel is pursuing now regarding Palestine. Their cruel actions are unacceptable.
Erdogan said Turkey has issues with some of the top figures in Israel. If they had no issues with Turkey, our relationship would be different. "We want to improve relations with Israel," Erdogan said.
Earlier this month, Turkey announced the appointment of a new ambassador to Israel. Turkey's move reflects Ankara's efforts to improve relations with Israel.
In 2014, the US embassy was moved from Tel Aviv to the holy city of Jerusalem, Al-Quds. In protest, the Turkish president withdrew his ambassador from Israel. At that time, Ankara expelled the Israeli ambassador.
