Discussions have been going on for a long time to alleviate the cinema crisis in Bangladesh and to attract audiences to the halls. This time the crisis has been exacerbated by the Corona (Covid-19) epidemic. Now the hall owners have proposed to run foreign movies in the country's halls to overcome this crisis. They say there is no alternative to closing the cinema hall.

Information Minister last November. This proposal was made by the leaders of Bangladesh Hall Owners Association after meeting Hasan Mahmud.

The three film-related organizations have agreed to the proposal. Sources said the organization reached a three-point agreement after a long meeting on Wednesday (December 30th) to prevent the closure of a cinema hall in a restaurant in the capital and to import foreign movies. At the meeting, the leaders of the three organizations also demanded the government to simplify the joint production policy.

The meeting was attended by Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar, President of the Directors Association, Khorshed Alam Khasru, President of the Producers and Distributors Association, Sohanur Rahman Sohan, Producer, Mirza Abdul Khaleq, Former President of the Exhibitors Association, Shamsul Alam, General Secretary of the Producers Association, Badiul Alam Khokon, General Secretary Mia Alauddin, senior vice-president of the exhibitors 'association and Awal Hossain Ujjwal, general secretary of the exhibitors' association.

Mushfiqur Raman Gulzar, president of the board of directors, told the meeting, "Even if we import foreign films, we have to give priority to the country's producers and the country's cinema." We are only agreeing to run the country by importing foreign movies for the greater good of the country's cinema.

Mia Alauddin, senior vice-president of the Hall Owners Association, said, "Everyone knows how many movies are made in the country every year. Judging by the number, many of the movies that are made are not even re-run movies. In this situation, if foreign films are not imported, the halls will be closed one by one due to the crisis of pictures and visitors. So we came to a nice decision about importing and running foreign movies. Hopefully, if foreign movies are released in the country, the audience will return. Competing with them will increase the number of good pictures made in our country.

Corona has caused huge damage to our film industry. In this situation, the producers are going back to invest in the movie. So even if cinema halls are opened, the halls are suffering from new cinema crisis. So considering the overall situation, the three film organizations have agreed to run if they import foreign movies. In this case, the government will ensure that the interests of local producers and producers and movies are not disturbed, 'said producer leader Khorshed Alam Khasru.
