Police have recovered the hanging body of a housemaid from the house of Ashikuzzaman, in-charge of Kalatia police outpost in Keraniganj. The body was sent to Sir Salimullah Medical College (Mitford) Hospital morgue for autopsy on Monday evening.
The deceased was identified as Sonia Akhter Jannati, 16, daughter of Shakil Miah of Baghjapa village under Kashiani police station in Gopalganj.
Kalatia police outpost SI Chunna Mia said Jannati had been working as a housemaid at Ashiquzzaman's house for three years. A month ago, Jannati's mother Josna Begum came to visit the house. When the mother came, she saw the girl hiding and talking to someone on her mobile phone. Josna Begum forbade her daughter not to talk on the phone more than once. But Jannati did not take into account her mother's words. For this reason, he abused his daughter on Monday afternoon. In the evening, Jannati committed suicide by hanging herself with the fan of the house.
Keraniganj Model Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Muzammel Hossain said, "After receiving the news, we went to the spot and saw the hanging body of the girl." After that, in the presence of Executive Magistrate Kamrul Hasan Sohail, the body was unloaded and an inquest report was prepared and sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy. Jannati's mother Josna Begum has filed an unnatural death case at Keraniganj Model Police Station.
