If Pakistan does not stop intervening, peace will not return to Afghanistan and security will not improve. Australian Professor William Malley made the remarks on Monday.
He made the remarks after several videos surfaced of senior Taliban leaders meeting with their followers in Pakistan. He claimed that the Afghan Taliban received significant support from the Pakistani military.
The videos show Mullah Abdul Gani, the head of the Taliban's political bureau and deputy leader of the Taliban, briefing Taliban cadres on the ongoing peace talks in Doha. At the time, he acknowledged the presence of the Taliban's top leadership in Pakistan.
In the video, the Afghan Foreign Ministry said the presence of Taliban leaders in Pakistan violated Afghanistan's national sovereignty. Afghanistan has asked Islamabad not to allow insurgents to use Pakistani land.
Australian Professor William Malley has said that meaningful peace in Afghanistan will not come unless Pakistan's relentless approach to intervening in Afghanistan is properly addressed. Security will not be good. He said Pakistan needed to rectify its own issues.
