Production of the slipper factory of the Padma Bridge rail link project at Bhanga in Faridpur has started. The slippers produced from this Chinese-made factory will be used in the rail project of the country's longest Padma bridge. This bridge is also being built by a Chinese company. According to the Chinese news agency Xinhua, the world's best company China Railway Group Limited or CREC built the first sleeper factory in Bangladesh. 

The work was completed on 22 August. Since then it has started small scale production but went into full swing last Wednesday. Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujon inaugurated the factory on the same day. He then inspected it.

Secretary of the Ministry of Railways was present with the Minister during the visit. Selim Reza, Bangladesh Railway Director Shamsuzzaman, PBRLP Project Director Fakhruddin Ahmed Chowdhury and CREC Project Director Wang Kun among others.

The Padma Bridge Rail Link Project is located in the Midwest of Bangladesh. When the construction of this railway is completed, it will connect the eastern and western parts of Bangladesh. 

The railway will start from Dhaka station and end at Mawa, Padma Multipurpose Bridge and Jessore. The Chinese-built factory can produce an average of more than 500 slippers a day. 3 lakh 70 thousand slippers will be made from here for Padma bridge. 

On the occasion, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jimming thanked CREC in a message. Wang Kun, Project Director, CREC, said that in order to overcome the current unfavorable international procurement uncertainty, to ensure quality slippers, to produce and supply quality slippers in the shortest possible time, to reduce construction costs and to import state-of-the-art technology products from China. For CREC has created Slipper Factory. 

Slipper Factory is part of the Slipper-Laying Base. Wang Kun said the slipper-laying base currently employs about 200 local workers who have received professional training from CREC's senior Chinese experts. On August 22 this year, the Slipper Factory started production on a small scale. So far the factory is running its operations very well and the slippers produced from here are of quite high quality.
