Thakurgaon Sadar Police have arrested Shahinur Rahman Shaheen, 35, the main ringleader of Seneless and motorcycle thieves in the northern region. He was arrested from Bhulli Singia Masterpara in Sadar Upazila on Saturday night (December 26) on the basis of secret information.
The arrested is the son of Tamiz Uddin of Bhulli Singia Masterpara area of Shahinur Sadar upazila. Seven cases are pending against him in Mithapukur, Rangpur, Kishoreganj, Dhaka, Raiganj of Narayanganj district, Kalihati and Thakurgaon-Pirganj of Tangail and Sadar police station for drug possession, drug theft and robbery.
Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Tanvirul Islam said that on August 8, Shahinur and his party looted everything by applying anesthetics to a house in Mujabanni Pradhanpara of Debipur Union in Sadar Upazila and looted everything. After a case was registered in the Sadar police station, the police started investigation through various sources. At one stage of the investigation, Shahinur was found to be involved in the incident.
He further said that on the basis of secret information, a force led by Sadar Police Station OC Investigation Atiqur Rahman and Operation Ziarul Islam Zia conducted a raid on Saturday night and arrested Shahinur from his residence. There are a total of seven cases in his name in Thakurgaon Sadar and Pirganj police stations and other districts. After the arrest, Shahinur was handed over to the wise court on Sunday afternoon.
