In the new year, the government has prepared the curriculum with 85 days leave in public-private secondary and lower secondary schools. This syllabus has been prepared amidst the uncertainty of when the educational institution will open due to the coronavirus epidemic.
The Department of Secondary and Higher Education on Monday approved the list of holidays and curriculum for the 2021 academic year of the educational institution and sent it to the Director General of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education. This time also 65 days leave has been kept on the occasion of different days including the three days leave reserved by the headmaster. Several instructions have also been given to schedule various examinations in the holiday list.
On the occasion of Ramadan, May Day, Buddha Purnima, Baishakhi Purnima, Shab-i-Qadr, Jumatul Bida and Eid-ul-Fitr, there will be 31 days off from April 14 to May 19. Besides, these educational institutions will be closed for 12 days from July 17 to July 29 during Eid-ul-Azha and summer vacations.
On the occasion of Eid-e-Miladunnabi (sa.), Durga Puja, Lakshmi Puja and Prabarana Purnima, a nine-day holiday has been observed from October 11 to October 20. Besides, on the occasion of winter vacation, Victory Day, big day, there will be 13 days holiday from 15th December to 29th December in secondary level educational institutions. It is planned to complete the half-yearly / pre-election examination from 12 to 24 June, the electoral examination from 26 September to 10 October and the annual examination from 28 November to 11 December.
The results of these tests will be released on July 10, November 6 and December 30, respectively. Each educational institution shall ensure the acceptance of half-yearly examinations, selective examinations and annual examinations as per the said examination schedule and the answer sheets of the annual examinations should be kept for at least one year. The duration of each test will not be more than 14 days.
The directive states that self-governing schools will prepare their own examination papers (excluding public examinations). Under no circumstances can the test be taken by buying question papers from outside.
Noting that the scheduled date of the examination cannot be changed, it has been said in the pedagogy that if the date of the examination is to be changed for any special reason, the permission of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education has to be taken.
This time too, the first working day of the academic year from January 1 to December 31, i.e. January 1, has been set aside to be celebrated as Textbook Day.
In the directive, the government has said that school leave cannot be given on the occasion of inspection of any government official and classes of students cannot be closed on the occasion of reception / inspection. Students cannot be made to stand in the street to show respect to the person being welcomed / visited.
The school should be kept open if necessary for admission or other examination ceremonies to be held during the holidays. Besides, schools should be kept open for stipend, admission test, final examination of primary education, junior school certificate examination.
Class activities will continue as usual in schools other than examination centers during JSC / SSC examinations. Every school has to print a diary called Daily Lesson Description and distribute it among the students at the beginning of the academic year.
Nationally important days such as 21st February, 17th March, 26th March, 15th August and 16th December, even though the classes are closed, the routine instruction has been asked to celebrate the day in the school by organizing various events on the relevant day.
