The marriage of the victim to the accused in the rape case has been completed at the Jhalokati court premises.
Jhalokati vacation District and Sessions Judge. Kazi Maulana Md. Syed Bashir got married in the presence of both the parties on Sunday afternoon on the instructions of Shahidullah. The district and sessions judge confirmed the marriage to the court's public prosecutor.
The bridegroom was Naeem Sardar, 22, son of Anwar Sardar of Dehergati village in Babuganj upazila of Barisal district. After the marriage, the accused granted bail to the groom Naeem. Shahidullah.
Public Prosecutor Abdul Mannan Rasul said the girl from Balighona village in Jhalokati Sadar Upazila had lodged a complaint with the Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal on November 8 alleging that she had been raped.
The judge directed the victim's complaint to be recorded as an FIR at Jhalokati police station. When an FIR was registered under Section 9 (1) of the Women and Child Abuse Act at Jhalokati Police Station on November 12, the only accused Naeem's father Anwar Hossain handed over his son to Jhalokati Police Station on November 13. The investigating officer of the case SI Nazmuzzaman sent the accused to the court showing his arrest.
The court did not grant Naeem's bail application and sent him to jail. During the bail hearing of the accused in the vacation District and Sessions Judge's Court on Sunday, the accused party expressed interest in marrying the victim and the aggrieved party also agreed to the proposal. Shahidullah ordered the marriage in the court premises with a seal of taka 5 lakh. The marriage was solemnized in the court premises in the presence of the accused, the victim and the lawyers of both the parties.
After the formalities of the marriage, the court granted bail to the accused on a bond of Tk 20,000. The groom accused Naeem is an electrician by profession and the bride has read and written till 10th class. In early 2019, they got acquainted and fell in love through their mobile phones. On the day of the incident, that is, on September 23, at around 10 pm, Naeem called the girls on his mobile phone in the back garden of the house and raped her.
