Legendary South African pace all-rounder Jacques Kallis has taken over as England's batting consultant. The English will play two Tests against Sri Lanka early next year. He will be the batting consultant in those two Tests.
Earlier, in the Test series against England, Kallis played the same role for the Proteas, taking over 13,000 runs in Tests and taking nearly 300 wickets. The English Cricket Board wants to give their coaching staff some respite from the rigorous life of bio-bubbles. That's why he is giving short-term responsibility to Kallis, who has scored 45 centuries in Tests.
Graham Thorpe, assistant to England national head coach Chris Silverwood, is not coming to Sri Lanka. However, he wants to take part in a tour of India in early February. It is not certain whether the ECB will include Kallis, who has a batting average of over 50 on Indian soil, in the series.
England will visit Sri Lanka on January 2. The first of the two Test series will be played on January 14. However, the uncertainty of this series is not over yet. Because in the meantime, the second wave of corona is like in England. Several countries have closed their borders with England. Sri Lanka is still not sure if it will be able to stop the first wave of corona.
