26 leaders of different units have resigned demanding reorganization of the newly formed committee of Khansama Upazila Chhatra League in Dinajpur. At a press conference at Khansama Upazila Press Club on Monday night, 26 BCL leaders resigned demanding the reconstitution of the committee.
Among the resigning leaders, Sajjad Islam, general secretary of Bherbheri Union Chhatra League and Mirza Mannu, president of Alokdihi College Chhatra League, said in a written statement that the former convening committee was dissolved and a new convening committee was formed on December 24. In the new committee, those who nurtured Mujib's ideology and did Chhatra League politics were not properly evaluated. Abu Naser Sarkar, the leader of Chhatra Dal, has been made the joint convener of the new committee. That is why since December 25, 27 BCL leaders and activists including presidents, general secretaries, conveners and joint conveners of different units of Khansama Upazila BCL have resigned.
The resigning leaders are Nur Islam, general secretary of Alokjhari Union Chhatra League, Asaduzzaman Asad and Sabuj Islam, vice-presidents of Bherbheri Union Chhatra League, Sabuj Hossain, convener of Khamarpara Union Chhatra League, Ariful Islam and Royal Islam, SK Aminul Islam, member of Angarpara Union Chhatra League. Ward BCL President Vijay Shankar, Goaldihi Union BCL Vice-President Dalim Chandra Roy and member Faruk Hossain, Pakerhat Government College BCL Joint Convener Milon Roy, North Bherbheri BM College BCL President Abul Kalam, Pakerhat Technical College BCL General Secretary Milin, Jamir Shah Balika School and College Chhatra League President Tania Akter, Celtushah Fazil Madrasa Branch Chhatra League General Secretary Majedul Islam, Hossainpur Degree College Chhatra League President Masud Rana, Kachinia School and College Chhatra League President Shawkat Ali, Alokdihi Ideal College Chhatra League President Bangla Manna, Mirza Alamgir Islam, president of Chhatra League, branch of language college and Mash, general secretary Yur Rahman, Golam Rahman Fazil Madrasa Branch BCL President Moinuddin Islam, Pakerhat Kamil Madrasa Branch BCL General Secretary Safur, Goaldihi Technical BM College BCL General Secretary Labu Islam.
Abu Naser Sarkar, the joint convener of the newly formed committee, said, "I have never been involved in student politics." I have loved Bangabandhu's Chhatra League since before I was admitted to Dhaka University. From that love, I always participated in the processions and meetings of Awami League, Chhatra League and MP in DU campus and upazila and was always with positive work as a Chhatra League worker. Spreading confusion about me, it’s motivated by purpose.
Upazila Awami League general secretary Safiul Azam Chowdhury Lion said, "I don't know what Abu Naser's government did while studying at the varsity." But in fact he is regularly seen in various programs of Awami League and Chhatra League in the area. Even in the National and Upazila Parishad elections, the boat has been seen to work.
Dinajpur district Chhatra League general secretary Golam Imtiaz Inan said he had not received any such resignation letter. However, if we receive a complaint about the committee with any specific evidence, then the matter will be taken seriously and action will be taken.
