In Mymensingh, the 'Joy Bangla' Chattar, built on the initiative of the City Corporation, has been opened to commemorate the liberation war.
On the evening of Victory Day, the 'Joy Bangla' square built next to the Shambhuganj Bridge on the Brahmaputra River in the city was officially inaugurated on Wednesday evening. State Minister for Housing and Public Works Sharif Ahmed inaugurated the 'Joy Bangla' premises by virtually joining.
Under the supervision of Mymensingh City Corporation, the courtyard has been constructed on the banks of the Brahmaputra River adjacent to the Bangladesh-China Bridge in the city. Initiatives were taken to present the history of Bangabandhu and the War of Liberation to the younger generation and to build 'Joy Bangla Chattar' in memory of him. Through this people will be able to know the property history of Bangabandhu and the liberation war.
In addition to a 30-foot-tall portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the biography of Bangabandhu and the history of the liberation war are also displayed in the square. Seven palm trees have been planted behind the portrait of Bangabandhu. Which will bear the memory of the self-sacrifice of the seven heroes.
There are 16 pillars in front of the portrait. Which is reminiscent of the December 16 victory. The length of each pillar has been kept at nine inches considering the independence gained in nine long months.
Mymensingh City Corporation Mayor. State Minister for Housing and Public Works Sharif Ahmed was the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of 'Joy Bangla' premises presided over by Ikramul Haque Titu.
City Mayor. Ikramul Haque Titu said that the spirit of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the best Bengali nation for thousands of years, will be spread among all through Joybangla Chattar.
Besides, District Awami League President Advocate Zahirul Haque Khoka, Metropolitan Awami League President Ehteshamul Alam, President of The Chamber of Commerce Md. Aminul Haque Shamim (CIP), District Civil Movement General Secretary Engineer. Nurul Amin Kalam and others. City Corporation Secretary Rajiv Kumar Sarkar gave a welcome address on the occasion.
