The High Court has given eight directions to the jail authorities on various issues including taking appropriate steps and measures to stop the supply of all kinds of illegal drugs inside all the jails in the country. Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik, a law officer of the concerned bench of the High Court, confirmed the matter to Samakal on Monday. He said a full copy of the 17-page order issued by the High Court on October 19 on the absence of the deputy jailor in the power of attorney of Mizanur Rahman Konak, an accused arrested in a corruption case, was published on Sunday. This directive will be applicable to all prison districts and deputy jailors of the country.

The instructions are- 1. The names, addresses, case numbers, clauses of the cases of the convicts in the case pending or convicted, the case pending in any court or the verdict of any court, the Inspector General of Prisons, District, Assistant District should keep that information in the Register. 2. The jail authorities should include in the registrar the date of arrival and exit of the prisoner in a convicted or pending case. 3. After proper verification, the prison authorities or prison officials are required to sign or seal the power of attorney of the convicted person or the prisoner in the case under trial. 4. Mention the full name of the concerned officer, landline and mobile phone number of the concerned officer next to the place where the concerned jail authority or jail officer will sign and seal the power of attorney. 5. Prison authorities must be vigilant and vigilant at all times to maintain peace and security in prisons and prison premises, in addition to taking appropriate legal action to prevent any unpleasant, unwanted environmental conditions. 6. The jail authorities should take appropriate steps and measures to stop the supply of all kinds of illegal drugs inside the jail. 7. The visitors should be strictly searched and if any drugs, anything illegal is found in the possession of the visitors, necessary and appropriate legal action should be taken as per the law. 8. Prison authorities must strictly abide by the provisions of the Prisons Act, 1894, the Prisons Act, 1900 and all relevant laws, including the Bangladesh Jail Code.

Every three months, a report on the implementation of the judgment must be submitted to the Registrar General of the Supreme Court. The order has been sent to the Registrar General of the Supreme Court, Senior Home Secretary, Inspector General of Police, Director General of RAB, IG Prison, all districts and deputy district magistrates to take necessary action in this regard.
