Tensions have been running high along the Chinese border in Ladakh for the past seven months. MM Naravan, the country's army chief, visited Ladakh on Wednesday to see how far the Indian military is prepared to deal with China this winter. He toured a few forward posts on the border.

According to Indian Army sources, the Indian Army Chief visited Rechin La Post along the Line of Actual Control that day. Temperatures in eastern Ladakh are now below zero. There are now 50,000 Indian troops deployed there. China has also deployed the same number of troops.

On the same day, Lieutenant General PGK Menon described the situation on the border of Naravan. He is the commander of the Fortin Corps in Ladakh. That core is known as the 'Fire and Fury Core'. Naravan reached Ladakh at 8.30 am that day. Throughout the day he visited various places in Ladakh.
