In Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, the seven-party alliance Gupkar Alliance has won a landslide victory in the District Development Council (DDC) elections. Out of a total of 280 seats, they got 112 seats. Besides, the BJP emerged as the single largest party. They got 74 seats. So far the final results of Bandipora, Kapura, Punch, Rajouri have not been found. In Jammu and Kashmir, voting took place in 280 centers of DDC in eight rounds. Voting begins on November 28.

There are also 935 panchayats and sarpanches in Kashmir with more than 11,000 vacancies. The counting of votes for each constituency began on Tuesday morning.

This is the first democratic vote since the repeal of Article 370.

So far, apart from Gupkar and BJP, non-partisan candidates have won 49 seats, Congress 26 seats, AAP 12 seats, PDF, National Panthers Party two seats and BSP one seat.

In Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah's National Conference won 72 seats. The ruling BJP has won only three seats. Independent candidates won 49 seats, more than the Congress or the PDP.

The BJP has won 71 seats in the state of Jammu. Farooq Abdullah's National Conference and Congress won 45 seats simultaneously.

Meanwhile, the BJP is very happy to get this first seat in Kashmir.

The BJP started calling the Gupkar alliance the Gupkar gang from the very beginning. PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti or Farooq Omar did not get a chance to campaign as a result of being imprisoned for a long time. Even then, the alliance considers this victory significant. According to them, the victory shows that the people of Kashmir did not like the Centre's decision. On the other hand, the BJP is seeing the light of change by winning 74 seats.

Politicians think that this victory of the Gupkar alliance is significant. Anurag Tagore, the BJP leader in charge of voting in Jammu and Kashmir, claimed that the BJP would do very well. Because the people of Jammu and Kashmir are looking for new leadership. In his words, "Modiji's dream of getting grassroots votes in Jammu and Kashmir came true.

Omar Abdullah, leader of the National Conference, a member of the Gupkar alliance, said, "It is not clear what the victory means to us." According to him, residents do not support what has happened in Jammu and Kashmir since August 5, 2019. That is what they have explained.

However, BJP general secretary in Jammu and Kashmir Bibodh Gupta's claim that the BJP's historic victory in three seats shows that the wind of change has begun to blow in the Valley.

Politicians think that the BJP has tried to corner the Gupkar alliance from the very beginning by calling it 'Gupkar Gang'. After long detention, corruption cases are now being filed against several leaders of the Gupkar alliance, including Farooq. Opposition parties have not been able to prepare for the by-elections. Farooq, Omar and PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti did not campaign. Yet this fruit is a great success for the alliance.

The NIA detained PDP youth leader Wahid Para on charges of involvement in terrorism soon after the nomination was submitted. He won in captivity. The people have rejected the demands of the leaders of the Gupkar alliance, the loss of special status in Jammu and Kashmir, and the arrest of residents including the leader.
