On the other hand, two candidates are contesting from BNP. One of them was the party mayor of BNP before. Shafiqul Islam Bebu.

However, another leader and former district BNP senior vice-president and former municipal mayor Abu Bakar Siddique has been expelled from the party for contesting as a rebel without getting nomination from the BNP. He is seeking votes by walking around the field with the coconut tree symbol.
