Heroic freedom fighter journalist Khandaker Ataul Haque, a permanent member of the National Press Club, is no more.

The talented journalist died at Kurmitola General Hospital in the capital on Tuesday afternoon. (Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun). He was 73 years old.

National Press Club General Secretary Farida Yasmin confirmed the death of Khandaker Ataul Haque with her status on Facebook.

Expressing deep grief over the death of Khandaker Ataul Haque, Farida Yasmin wrote that Khandaker Ataul Haque, a permanent member of the National Press Club and former secretary of the Dhaka Journalist Family Multipurpose Cooperative Society, died at Kurmitola Hospital on Tuesday afternoon. He was hospitalized with corona. Deep grief and respect. My deepest condolences to the family members.

It is learned that Khandaker Ataul Haque was admitted to Kurmitola General Hospital on December 13 with corona symptoms. Later, his corona test yielded a 'positive' result. He was also suffering from respiratory diseases. Eventually, this heroic freedom fighter and journalist migrated to the land of no return while undergoing treatment.

Khandaker Ataul Haque was the acting editor of the fortnightly Alo Michi. He was recently involved in writing a book to highlight the eventful history of the Liberation War.
