It has been alleged that the wife of an expatriate mother of one child was raped in Kapasia of Gazipur. The incident took place in Nardartek area of Nabipur village in Targaon union of the upazila on Thursday night.
After receiving the news, the police conducted an overnight operation and arrested 7 youths on charges of rape. Later on Friday, the housewife's mother filed a case with the Kapasia Police Station accusing 8 people.
According to the case statement, in the absence of her husband, the housewife got involved in an immoral relationship with a young man named Sakhawat Hossain. Last Wednesday, the housewife came from her husband's house in Manohardi Upazila to visit her father's house in Targaon Union. The next day, on Thursday evening, her boyfriend Sakhawat Hossain called her to the nearby Nordarte to give her a mobile phone as a gift. At one stage, Sakhawat raped her under a kadai tree of that tech. On learning of the matter, Sakhawat's friends Masum and Shakib and others came there. Later, they raped her in turns from 7.30 pm to 8.30 pm. In the end, they detained the housewife and demanded Rs 50,000 from her mother on her mobile phone. At that time, his mother informed the police about the matter on her mobile phone. The police immediately launched an operation and first arrested Masum with the help of information technology. After his confession, the police conducted an overnight operation and arrested six other people involved in the rape from different areas.
They are Roman Bepari, 20, son of Mostafa Bepari of Targaon village, Jobay Bepari, 20, son of Mohsin Bepari, Mostarin, 19, son of Mofizuddin Sardar, Sahabul Hossain Shakib, 21, son of Ehsan Bepari and Mahfuzul Haque, 20, son of Badal Moral. Masum Sheikh, 21, son of late Chafuruddin of Boalia Tech and Rakib Hossain, 20, son of Samsul Haque, Sakhawat Hossain, 24, son of Ainuddin of Charkham village in Mulhota are absconding.
Kapasia Police Station OC Mohammad Alam Chand said the arrestees had confessed to being involved in the rape. They were sent to court on Friday. An operation is underway to arrest Sakhawat Hossain, the mastermind of the incident.
