An endangered Himalayan vulture species has been rescued at Singra in Natore. The vulture was rescued from the house of Insan Ali in Bamihal-Kakian village of the upazila on Saturday morning by members of the environmental organization Chalanbil Biodiversity Protection Committee.

Saiful Islam, general secretary of the Chalanbil Biodiversity Conservation Committee, said the vulture fell ill after being caught in a current net in a paddy field in Kakian village on Friday evening. Later, local teenager Rafiul Islam Raj informed the Dhaka Crime Control Unit and Rajshahi Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Department on his mobile phone. The vulture was rescued in the morning. At present, the vulture is under the care of environmental activists Hasan Imam and Abdur Rashid. It will be handed over to the Rajshahi Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Divisional Office on Sunday.

Jahangir Hossain, a wildlife inspector at the Rajshahi Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Department, said it is a vulture of the Himalayan vulture species. They run into various crises including endangered environment and food shortage. Overall measures are being taken to cure the vulture.
