Police have arrested a man named Almas (63) on charges of trying to rape an eight-year-old child in Narayanganj's Siddhirganj. He was arrested from SO Mandalpara area of ​​Siddhirganj on Saturday morning.

Earlier on Thursday night, the child's mother filed a case with the Siddhirganj police station accusing Almas of attempted rape.

Citing the case, Siddhirganj police sub-inspector (SI) Sujan Ranjan Talukder said Almas was a grocer by profession. The abused child and he live in the same rented house. He is already accused of making obscene gestures towards neighboring children in various ways. The child was home alone on Thursday night as the victim's parents were working. At this opportunity Almas tried to rape the child. The mother of the child filed a case with the police station on the same night. Police arrested Almas in a raid on Saturday morning.

He added that the child has been sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for medical examination. Preparations are underway to send the arrested Almas to court.
