Nepal's Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called on the President to dissolve the parliament. He made the call after an emergency cabinet meeting on Sunday morning.
KP Sharma Oli has faced criticism from the leaders of his own party, the Communist Party of Nepal. His party did worse than expected from opinion polls, which saw them at gaining about a third of the seats. So such a decision is undemocratic.
Vishnu Rizal, one of the leaders of the party, said that Oli took this decision after losing the majority within the party.
Nepal's general election is scheduled for 2022. It remains to be seen whether President Vidya Devi Bhandari will dissolve parliament in response to the PM's call.
