The Italian government has completely lifted a five-month ban on citizens of other countries, including Bangladesh, from traveling to Italy. At the same time, a new ordinance has been approved to ease the ongoing lockdown ahead of Christmas.

Italian authorities have implemented the decision to lift the ban from Friday.

Meanwhile, a record 993 people died in a single day in the country on Thursday. Earlier, in the first phase of Corona, 969 people died in a single day on March 27. This is the highest one-day death record in Italy before Thursday.

Italy has imposed travel bans on 13 countries since July 7 due to the rise in the incidence of corona. Later, it imposed travel bans on 16 countries, including three more.

In the first week of November, Italy relaxed the travel ban conditionally. Most of the thousands of expatriates stranded in Bangladesh got a chance to return to Italy. Only family visa holders could not return to Italy under the ban. However, there is no obstacle for the expatriates to return to the country from Friday.

The new ordinance, announced by Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte on Thursday, stipulates that a travel ban will be in place from December 21 to January 6 in one part of Italy. However, there will be no travel ban to return to one's home, resident and residence Tourists visiting from December 21 to January 7 will have to stay in quarantine for 14 days.

No one will be able to go outside their area or community for these three days on 25th and 26th December and 1st January The curfew will remain in effect from 10pm to 5am as before However, curfew will be in place till 8 am on Christmas and English New Year.
