Bangladesh will get fuel oil directly from India through the pipeline. Work on the pipeline began on Thursday (December 3rd) to reduce transportation costs and ensure uninterrupted supply of diesel to the field. The businessmen welcomed the initiative of the government. The people of the north will benefit economically if the supply of oil starts. Petroleum Corporation reported the information.

To ensure energy security in the north, the government has taken initiative to bring fuel oil directly from India to the Railhead Oil Depot at Parbatipur in Dinajpur through a pipeline. To this end, the MoU was signed in 2018 by the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina and the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi. As a result, the work of laying the pipeline in Sonapukur part of Parbatipur started on Thursday. The pipeline will come from Parbatipur via Siliguri, Siliguri, India, Panchagarh, Bangladesh, 130 km from Numaligarh Refinery Limited, Siliguri, India. When the supply of oil starts, the people of this region will get oil at affordable prices.

The farmers said, we have planted Eri with great difficulty. Now if oil is available in this region then we will be very benefited.

Raushan Ali, general secretary of the Petrol Pump Owners Association, said the people of the region should not fall into the oil crisis. He said the people of Dinajpur, Thakugaon and Panchagarh will no longer face oil crisis. We can give them oil at the right time.

Ram Kisan Kongor, Country Director, Numaligarh Refinery Limited, India, said that the supply of oil from India will start as soon as the pipeline is completed. "Once the pipeline is up and running, we will be able to supply enough oil," he said.

The Petroleum Corporation thinks that the people of the north will benefit economically if the supply of oil starts.

This pipeline can transport 43,000 tons of oil per year. The construction of the project at a cost of Taka 520 crore will be completed by June 2022.
