Judicial proceedings have been started in connection with the attack on Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer Wahida Khanam and her father in Dinajpur.

Judge Bishwanath Mandal of Dinajpur Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court fixed December 29 for the formation of the chargesheet in the presence of the accused.

The matter has been confirmed by Dinajpur Court Inspector of Police Israel Hossain and Dinajpur Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) Shah Dorakh Shan (Admiral).

Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) Shah Dorakh Shan (Admiral) said the accused Rabiul Islam was produced before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court in Dinajpur at noon on the first scheduled date of the court proceedings. When the accused Rabiul's lawyer Shahidur Rahman applied for bail, the court judge Bishwanath Mandal denied bail. At the same time, he fixed December 29 for the formation of charges in the case. The accused was later remanded in custody.

Earlier, the investigating officer submitted the documents of all the cases to the court after completing the investigation at Amali Court-7 (Ghoraghat). Later, the case was referred to Dinajpur Chief Judicial Magistrate Court-2, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court for judicial proceedings and disposal.

Dinajpur court police inspector Israel Hossain said the chargesheet was filed against Rabiul Islam, the lone accused in the attack on UNO Wahida Khanam and her father, on November 21 at the Dinajpur Senior Judicial Magistrate (Amli Court-7). ) 'S OC Imam Abu Jafar.

 The investigating officer said that after considering all aspects of the case, it has been confirmed that Rabiul Islam is the sole mastermind and perpetrator of the incident. A chargesheet has been filed against him in the concerned court. Others arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident have been acquitted as they have no involvement in the incident.

A senior police official said the chargesheet contained 31 evidence in the case, including CC footage review, mobile network, stick used as evidence, hammer, forensic report, ME report, Nokia phone, Rs 45,000 in cash. In addition, 53 people have been named as witnesses in the chargesheet out of which 5 witnesses have already given confessional statements in the court. Police have questioned more than 40 people in the case over a period of about three and a quarter months.

It may be mentioned that Wahida Khanam and her father Omar Ali Sheikh of Ghoraghat UNO were attacked at Government Post Bangla around 2 am on September 2 this year. They were rescued at 8 am on September 3 and taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. When the situation deteriorated there, UNO was airlifted to the National Neuroscience Hospital by helicopter at 1pm. That evening, UNO Wahida Khanam's brother Sheikh Farid filed a case with Ghoraghat police station. The case was later handed over to the DB police. Rabiul Islam, son of Khatib Uddin of Bijora village in Bijora union of Biral upazila of the district and a former employee of UNO residence in Ghoraghat was arrested on the night of September 11. On September 20, Rabiul Islam admitted his guilt and gave a confessional statement under section 164 in court. Later, the police confirmed through CCTV footage, mobile network, forensic report, used hammer and 31 signs that Rabiul Islam was the only one involved in the case.
