The incident took place at 11 am on Monday. Although the district election officer was not injured at the time, a policeman named Rabiul Islam who was with him was injured.

Md. Alamgir said that on his way back after visiting the Collectorate Adarsh ​​Shiksha Niketan Center, some youths ran from behind in front of the center with sticks and vandalized his car. The youths have completely broken the rear window of the car. At this time the members of the law enforcement forces came forward and brought the situation under control.

The Panchagarh district election officer could not immediately reveal the names of those involved in the vandalism. He also said that legal action will be taken in this regard.

Meanwhile, a scuffle broke out between the activists and supporters of the two candidates outside the Panchagarh Government Girls' High School, an important polling station in Ward 2, around 9 am on Monday. Police, BGB and RAB members led by the executive magistrate calmed down the situation.

Earlier, polling started at 15 centers in Panchagarh municipality from 8 am today. Ignoring the winter, there has been a huge turnout of voters since morning to cast their votes through electronic voting machines (EVMs). Male voters as well as female voters were standing in long lines at various centers to cast their votes.

Three mayoral candidates including Awami League, BNP and Jagpa and 53 councilors are contesting in the election. Voting is taking place in 97 rooms of 15 centers in 9 wards of the municipality. The total number of voters in this municipality is 35,011. Of these, 17,153 are male voters and 17,858 are female voters.
