Police have arrested a man named Nawab Ali (38) for allegedly raping a housewife in Satkhira's Debhata. He was arrested from Sakhipur junction of Debhata upazila on Thursday night. The victim has filed a case against Nawab Ali at the police station.
The arrested is the son of Akbar Ghazi of Dakshin Parulia village in Nawab Ali upazila.
The tortured woman said that Nawab Ali had been raping her for a long time by blackmailing her. She told her family when she was raped again on Thursday. At one stage, he filed a case against Nawab Ali at Debhata police station on Thursday afternoon with the help of his family. After filing the case, Debhata police conducted a raid at night and arrested the accused Nawab Ali from Sakhipur junction of the upazila.
Debhata Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Biplob Kumar Saha said Nawab Ali had already been arrested. He added that the arrested person has been sent to jail through the court. On the other hand, the tortured woman has been sent to Satkhira Sadar Hospital for medical examination.
