Waqar Ahmed Nannu's elder brother Iftekhar Ahmed Khan Babu (37) has been arrested in connection with the attack and attempted murder of Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer Wahida Khanam in Dinajpur. A stolen private car was seized from his house at the time.
Babu was arrested from his home on Wednesday night, police said. At that time, he locked the door of the house and came on Facebook Live and started making false allegations against the police. Police further said that the arrested Babu was using various identities including Awami League leader, journalist and close associate of the local MP to carry out illegal activities with his younger brother Waqar Ahmed Nannu. According to the case sources, on the basis of secret information, the police got information that there was a stolen private car in Babu's house and he was a member of the private car thief gang. Later, the police raided the place around 10 pm on Wednesday. A stolen private car (Registration No. Dhaka Metro G 12-9362) was seized from his house at that time. The accused could not show any valid documents related to the ownership of the car and admitted in the preliminary interrogation that the private car was stolen.
It is learned that Iftekhar Ahmed Khan Babu resigned from the army and returned to the area in late 2008. With the camera in hand, the local MPs continue to participate in various programs.
