Another accident took place at the railway point of Swajanpukur Gumti area in Phulbari of Dinajpur after a gap of 14 hours. The inter-city Rupsha Express train derailed in a collision with a truck in the area at 3.25pm ​​on Monday night. Due to this, the railway communication of the whole country is cut off through Phulbari.

According to the locals, if the train had been speeding, there would have been a huge loss of life and property.

Master of Fulbari Railway Station Rafiq Chowdhury said that the inter-city Rupsha Express train from Khulna to Chilahati was waiting for crossing at Fulbari Railway Station around 3:30 pm. The Khulna Mail train from Parbatipur to Khulna crossed Line No. 2 on Monday night thinking that there might be a problem at the point due to a collision between a freight train and a truck. Later, the Rupsha Express train, which was stationed at the station, was supposed to pass through Line 2 to reach its destination. But on Monday night, the freight train and truck collided at the scene of the accident on the instructions of Pakshi Assistant Divisional Officer Sobhan, the train was left on line number 1. At that time, a bogie of the Rupsha Express train derailed when the relatives went to the point of the pond and pushed the truck involved in the night accident.

He added that at present, train communication across the country is cut off through Phulbari. However, it has been reported that a relief train will arrive in Parbatipur. If the relief train arrives and the intercity Rupsha Express train is removed, communication will be normal again.

Susanta Kumar Das, 33, a pointman of Phulbari station, was killed in a collision between a truck and a freight train at around 1pm on Monday. After the accident, the railway communication between Parbatipur and Phulbari was closed for 5 hours and it became normal around 8 am on Tuesday.
